With winter around the corner it is Warming Hut time again! The 2016/2017 Warming Hut season will kick off on Thanksgiving Day and continue through the end of March. Open every weekend and throughout the Christmas holidays, the Warming Hut offers our chilled visitors free hot chocolate, hot apple cider, coffee, tea and a roaring fire.
Constructed in 2002 and located at the end of the North Grove Trail, the Warming Hut’s design is based on the original warming hut, which goes all the way back to the 1930s and was located on the north side of the meadow, now occupied by camping sites. Last season the Warming Hut entertained nearly 15,000 visitors from around the world. Staffed by Calaveras Big Trees Association volunteers, the Warming Hut is open from noon to 4:00 p.m.
