Education
Calaveras Big Trees State Park is one of California's most inspiring outdoor classrooms, home to Giant Sequoias that have stood for over a thousand years. CBTA has been delivering high-quality educational and interpretive programs here since 1974, connecting curious minds of all ages with the science, history, and wonder of this remarkable place.
Whether you're a teacher planning a field trip, a college student looking for hands-on conservation experience, or a community member ready to share your love of nature, there's a program here for you.
K–12 School Tours
Guided tours of the North Grove trail, available fall & spring for up to 60 students at $60/group. Title I schools may apply for "Buses to Big Trees" transportation funding.
Scholarship Opportunities
CBTA's scholarship fund supports students pursuing education in natural resources, interpretation, and environmental stewardship — investing in tomorrow's conservationists.
Summer Intern Program
Each summer CBTA sponsors a college intern through the Student Conservation Association. Interns gain hands-on park management and interpretation experience as a true Big Trees team member.
Volunteer & Become a Docent
Thousands of volunteer hours are donated to the park every year. Lead school groups, staff the visitor center, patrol trails, or work behind the scenes — every skill has a home here.
