There are many docent opportunities at Calaveras Big Trees State Park.   We are looking for people who love the park, love nature, and love to work with people (or not).

We have a great community of people at Calaveras Big Trees who are dedicated to enhancing every visitor’s experience. Docents help maintain hiking trails; conduct guided hikes; work in the visitor center; assist with park events and fundraisers; and work with young people in our many children’s programs. There is something for everyone!

Park docents are constantly learning. You will be trained in whichever volunteer opportunity you choose. As a docent, you will be invited to regular docent meetings and CBTA seminars that are scheduled throughout the year. You also have access to our fabulous docent library.

  3. Attend our Spring Orientation: All docents must participate in our two-day training session, where you’ll learn the essentials and meet fellow volunteers. Additional training on volunteer activities will be held throughout the spring.
