SUMMARY:First Day Hike
DESCRIPTION:What better way to kick off the New Year than by getting a jump start burning off those extra holiday calories in the great outdoors? \nThe Calaveras Big Trees hike will explore the contributions the Civilian Conservation Corp made to the park and their continued influence in the park. \nHikers will meet in front of Jack Knight Hall beginning at 11AM on January 1.  The hike will be just under one mile and the program will last approximately 45 minutes.  The hike is ADA friendly but will involve uneven terrain\, loose soil\, a few slight hills and possibly snow.  Hikers are advised to dress in layers\, wear warm shoes/boots that are water resistant and bring water.  This hike is geared towards older school students and adults interested in 20th century history.  Service dogs are permitted; pets are prohibited since we will be entering a park building as part of the hike.  The hike will be cancelled if it’s raining. \nCall 209-795-7980 or 209-795-3840 with any questions.
