It updates and expands upon the General Plan and is intended to help guide park unit staff toward realizing its vision for interpretation. The Master Plan provides greater background and context\, while analyzing existing conditions and looking at opportunities and constraints for expanding interpretation and meeting visitor needs. A Master Plan offers recommendations for facilities\, media and programs\, with objectives and strategies that are in line with the park unit’s goals and guidelines. The Master Plan can be a stand-alone document or combined with an Action Plan. DESCRIPTION:Treewise and Sequoical: John Muir and Giant Sequoia \nNaturalist John Muir may have come to California in 1868 to see the Giant Sequoia – the most massive trees in the world. In his early years he reveled among the groves. Then he studied them. Then he saw the need to preserve the Big Trees and visited the Calaveras grove three times  – in 1876\, 1899\, and 1900. \nMike Wurtz\, Head of Special Collections and Muir Curator at the University of the Pacific\, will present a slide show of original photographs\, letters\, and drawings documenting Muir’s relationship to this massive Sierra tree. \n$10 Entrance Fee into Park \nSeminar is free \nDownload list of events
