DESCRIPTION:On the day after Thanksgiving\, November 24\, 2017\, the generous members and donors of Save the Redwoods League are sponsoring a limited number of free Day Use Passes into the over 40 Redwood State Parks.  All of the Calaveras Big Trees passes have been spoken for. \nCalaveras Big Trees is grateful  for a great partner in Save the Redwoods League. They help the park carry out its mission of preserving\, protecting\, inspiring and creating high-quality outdoor experiences. \nSave the Redwoods League members have indicated that a single visit to a grove of ancient redwoods is an experience so powerful that it can foster a lifelong commitment to the protection of the world’s wild and special places. \nRedwoods Friday Day-Use Parking Passes are limited. They will be distributed on a first-come\, first-served basis based on each park’s capacity.  Visitors without passes are welcome but must pay admission.  All of the Calaveras Big Trees passes have been spoken for. \nAbout Redwoods Friday \n\nRedwoods Friday\, now in its third year\, encourages families and friends to connect with California’s spectacular redwood state parks for the first time or to rekindle their love for them by providing thousands of free day-use vehicle passes to more than 40 participating redwood state parks.\nRedwoods Friday this year is supported by the generous members and donors of Save the Redwoods League.\nBy supporting programs like Redwoods Friday\, Save the Redwoods League is inspiring potential new visitors to experience and explore our redwood state parks.\n\nHow Redwoods Friday Began \n\nOn the day after Thanksgiving in 2015\, Save the Redwoods League encouraged people to enjoy the holiday with friends and family in California’s spectacular redwood state parks.\nCollaborating with California State Parks\, the League removed a critical barrier for park visitors: the day-use vehicle fee. With 48 redwood parks participating\, the League launched the new Thanksgiving tradition of Free Redwood Parks Day. The League held the event in 2016 as Green Friday and 2017 as Redwoods Friday.\n\nBuilding Awareness of California’s Natural Legacies \n\nRedwoods Friday is an opportunity to connect with our beautiful state parks. California offers some of the most biologically diverse and scenically spectacular parks in the world\, ranging from high desert to lush redwood forests. These parks showcase California’s unique history and protect numerous important cultural resources.\n\nConnecting People and Parks \n\nCalifornia’s state parks are for everyone. DESCRIPTION:Calaveras Big Trees Association Presents A Day in the Park on Saturday\, August 19\, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. \nBring your family and friends to a fun-filled afternoon of music by the local favorite\, Magnolia Rhythm Trio. They will be performing from 12 – 2 at the Campfire Center. \nDelicious barbeque will be available prepared by Big Boys BBQ’IN.  Food will be available in front of Jack Knight Hall from 11 – 3. \nColumbia State Park reenactors will be on hand to share everyday life in the 1870s. The Columbia State Park rangers and docents will also be sharing old-time games from the 1800s. This event will be held in the area between the campfire center and Jack Knight Hall. Come join the fun! \n

DESCRIPTION:About this program\nThe weekly Photography Program began with the 2016 season as an idea for docents & locals to  experience the park\, although anyone is welcome to attend (but not recommended for children under 12). \nEach week focuses on a different theme\, and for 2017 we are expanding to include different areas of the park. The location where to meet at 9am is given for each Wednesday on the schedule. \nClick Here to Download Class Schedule \nThose who attend consecutive weeks have an   opportunity to share a few images from the prior week after an outing.
