SUMMARY:Tree Mortality\, Fire\, Climate Change and Future Forests in the Sierra Nevada- Seminar
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Susie Kocher\, Forestry/ Natural Resources Advisor \nThe forests of the Sierra Nevada have been undergoing increasing stressors with drought leading to increasing tree mortality and wildfires killing trees across vast areas. The type and timing of disturbances such as bark beetles or fire have profound effects on the recovery of Sierra Nevada forests as does the warming climate. This talk will review the current state of Sierra forests\, prospects for the future and need action to keep those forests healthy for coming generations. \n  \nSeminars are free and open to the public. There is a day-use fee to enter the Park. Pack a lunch\, bring the family and plan on spending the day among the Giant Sequoias. For more information call Calaveras Big Trees Association at (209)795-1196. \nLocation:  Ralston Classroom – Education Building near Visitor Center.
