SUMMARY:North Grove Guided Walk
DESCRIPTION:An easy walk around the North Grove trail led by knowledgeable Docents and staff.  All ages are welcome.  Allow 1.5-2 hours to complete the walk. \nGuided hikes are offered rain or shine. The North Grove Trail is just under 2 miles long\, and easily walked by most people. Allow at least 90 minutes (or up to 2 hours) for the tour. Remember to get water and use the restroom before meeting your guide. \nIf conditions warrant\, the walk may become a snowshoe hike.  Snowshoes are provided. \nCall 209-795-7980 or 209-795-3840 for more information.

DESCRIPTION:Come look at the stars! Docents will be sharing information and telling stories as everyone gazes at the night sky. Two telescopes and astronomical binoculars will give you a closer look at the moon\, planets and deep sky objects. \nWe’re excited to have a webcam for one of the telescopes\, so images can be shown on a 40” monitor in real time. No more standing in line to look through the big telescope! \nMeet us at the Scenic Overlook in the park\, just a few miles past the Visitor Center. This is one of the best night sky viewing areas in the region. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. \nThe Astronomy program at the park is run entirely by docent volunteers with significant investment by the Calaveras Big Trees Association. \nPlease join us! \nPlease call 209-795-7980 with any questions.

Pairs of children\, wade into the clear\, shallow waters\, clutching plastic cups\, turning over rocks and searching intently. Then some child shrieks\, “Look what I found!” And then another calls out. Within 5 minutes\, the creek is filled with waders finding critters.\n\nCreek Critters is when children gallop out of the water\, head to the tables with cups full of critters\, and pour them into share tubs for everyone to see. SUMMARY:Astronomy Program
DESCRIPTION:Come look at the stars! Docents will be sharing information and telling stories as everyone gazes at the night sky. Two telescopes and astronomical binoculars will give you a closer look at the moon\, planets and deep sky objects. \nWe’re excited to have a webcam for one of the telescopes\, so images can be shown on a 40” monitor in real time. No more standing in line to look through the big telescope! \nMeet us at the Scenic Overlook in the park\, just a few miles past the Visitor Center. This is one of the best night sky viewing areas in the region. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. \nThe Astronomy program at the park is run entirely by docent volunteers with significant investment by the Calaveras Big Trees Association. \nPlease join us! \nPlease call 209-795-7980 with any questions.
